Had a set of Bose Companion 5s that my mum got for me a long time ago and they just died due to an old orange juice accident catching up to them. Just checked to see how much they cost since I’d like to replace them, and holy fuck are they expensive . Anyone know where I could just get the control knob for them?

EDIT: Well shit, they fixed themselves. Technology makes no sense.

Unplug em and douse the hell out of the control knob with 99% isopropyl alcohol, then work it back and forth. Should easily dissolve the juice residue and get you back in action.

Make sure you allow the alcohol to dry before plugging em back in. Also, make sure youre using 99% iso and not 70% or rubbing alcohol as 70% has enough water in it to cause oxidation before it dries, and rubbing has other additives which may leave behind an undesired residue.

You are not kidding, those are expensive bro! I’ve used Creative speakers for myself and clients. Never an issue and the price is right.

They’ve been great, it’s just I shouldn’t have nice things.
